We started with thin D2 plate tool steel (.103) and flat ground the edge to 7.5" (Total Length = 11"). We jeweled the blade flats, and finished the knife with Alaskan Spalted Birch. We stabilized this beautiful rare wood before we hand shaped, polished, and secured the wood scales to the blade tang with brass pins and water proof epoxy. This is a lifetime fillet knife and we only have enough Spalted Birch to build 30. Each will be numbered and will include a high quality hand made leather pouch sheath.
